Wallwork Cast Alloys is the latest foundry to join the Federation.

Part of the Wallwork Group, which has had an association with the foundry industry going back over 150 years, Wallwork Cast Alloys offers a range of high-quality heat-resistant nickel and chromium (Ni/Cr) castings, mainly for use in the heat treatment, glass manufacturing, cement and petro-chemical industries.

Foundry Manager Alex Beck explains, “We are a small foundry but keep an extensive stock of parts and patterns for a wide range of customers, including for major furnace manufacturers, so we are in the interesting position of being a foundry but also part of the supply chain for the industry. Plus, as we buy back our Ni and Cr castings when they need to be replaced, we recognise the growing potential for the castings industry as part of the circular economy for metals in the UK, something that I know the CMF team and other members are well aware of.

“We are looking forward to being able to benefit from being part of the Federation, meeting with other foundry professionals and receiving the various reports and updates that the CMF team supply.”

Pam Murrell, CEO of the Cast Metals Federation agrees, saying, “We are working hard to represent all of our members and the wider castings and foundry industry as we navigate the various challenges and opportunities being faced by UK manufacturing such as CBAM, energy pricing and net zero. As a founding trade association in the ‘Back British Metals’ initiative, we recognise that there is some work to be done to ensure that the metals industry is able to thrive in the UK and some clear opportunities in our domestic supply chains for critical infrastructure.

“It’s great to have Alex and the team at Wallwork CA as members – as a collective voice, and with more foundries joining us, we have more leverage and more resources to represent and support the industry here in the UK.”
