The Cast Metals Federation works to foster development, collaboration and innovation in the UK casting industry, in partnership with businesses and stakeholders, to promote good practice and represent the Best of British casting across the globe.
As the single voice for the UK foundry industry, CMF promotes the UK castings industry as a whole, influencing discussions with government bodies, negotiating and consulting on UK and European legislation that affects us all.
As the UK member of the European Foundry Association (CAEF) and a full member of the Metals Forum,
we are well placed to inform and influence.
CMF Members come from every part of the industry and produce around 85% of all castings produced in the UK. From global foundry groups to small jobbing foundries, our Members supply precision finished parts and assemblies in a range of sizes, metals and processes to global markets, valued at over £2.2B.
For manufacturers across the world seeking the ‘Best of British Casting’ the CMF provides a single point of contact, whether for sourcing castings for every application and market sector or general information on the activities of the UK Foundry Industry.

What we achieve every year
Meet the CMF team
Russell began his foundry career as an apprentice patternmaker with George Fischer Lincoln, gaining a strong grounding in the casting process from first principles. He has since held technical and methoding roles with a range of UK and European foundries, including Georg Fischer Herzogenburg (Austria), Lincoln Castings, Russell Ductile, Weir Minerals and Lestercast. He also spent several years with MAGMASOFT (Maxima Engineering), providing technical support to foundries across the UK castings industry.

Steve Goodier has worked in the cast metals industry his entire career. Having previously worked in the sand casting sector for 16 years, he joined investment casting specialists Tritech Group in 1999 and was appointed Group Technical Director in 2011.

Lee has over a decade of senior leadership experience within membership organisations, with a strong background in sustainability and public policy. He previously served as Chief Executive of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) and more recently was a Director at the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), where he focused on policy development and member engagement.

Richard’s primary role is as Health, Safety and Environment Officer and administrator of the sector’s safety initiative, SHIFT.
