Automet Ltd, who are recyclers of aluminium and supply secondary aluminium ingot to the foundry industry, are the latest supplier to join the Cast Metals Federation. Based in Trafford Park, Manchester they offer buying and selling services worldwide.

As Automet MD Paul Humphries says, “We started recycling aluminium scrap to produce secondary aluminium ingots back in 1998 and since then our business has grown into one of the leading secondary aluminium producers in the UK today.”

CMF CEO Pam Murrell FICME says, “We know that our foundries are a key part of the circular economy for metals, as secondary metals are the main raw material, whether ferrous or non-ferrous, and our suppliers play a vital role in this. Metals are increasingly being recognised as vital and strategically significant for the UK economy, and we collect and process significant quantities which can then be re-used to make all the components we need for our supply chains. We want the UK to have a robust and competitive secondary metal ecosystem and the more that we can work together the better, to back British metals.

“We look forward to working with Paul and the team from Automet on these important issues over the coming months.”
