29 Aug Quality Castings joins the Cast Metals Federation

Quality Castings (Slough) Limited, based in Bury St Edmunds is a privately owned foundry producing over 800 tonnes of aluminium castings annually, using gravity die and air set sand moulding processes.

With over 50 years of experience in the production of high-quality aluminium alloy castings, the company ensures that their work force is involved at all stages of the process, and through a combination of traditional foundry skills and knowledge, along with new modern practices and technology, they can ensure client requirements are achieved.

As Works Manager for the company, David Tarrant, explains, “A high proportion of our castings are required to meet very high standards of integrity which include zero defects in flame paths for safety hazardous components used within the petro-chemical, gas, oil and mining industries and we also use inspection processes such as x-Ray and Dye Penetrant detection.  We pride ourselves on the dedication of our skilled team to ensure the quality of our service to our customers.”

Michael Harrison, Business Development Manager, agrees saying, “our in-house specialist engineers design all the tooling we need for diecasting and the foundry patterns for sand casting, with the manufacture of the tooling sub-contracted to die and patternmakers who have the capability to manufacture using both traditional and CAD/CAM methods. So, whether it’s a small batch of raw castings or a scheduled supply of finished parts, ready for assembly, our team can offer a complete ‘One Stop Shop’ solution, from tooling design to fully machined and painted aluminium components.

“We are delighted to rejoin the Cast Metals Federation after a few years away and the new management team are looking forward to getting involved in the various member’s meetings and activities so that we can take full advantage of our membership.”

Pam Murrell FICME, CMF’s CEO says “We are always delighted to welcome UK foundries into membership – it’s what we are about after all.  Whilst manufacturing continues to be challenging in the UK, and particularly in metals processing, there are clear opportunities for the industry as there will always be demand for shape castings in metal.  By working together, we can help ensure that our industry is able to take advantage of any opportunities and thrive into the future.  We look forward to working with Michael and David and the team at Quality Castings.”
