Our CMF Investment Casting Group were fortunate to be able to visit IRISNDT during October and have a presentation and tour of the facilities from some of their team of NDT experts.

The company, which has operations around the globe, took over the site near Chester earlier in 2022 and continues to specialise in x-ray testing of aerospace casting and defence castings, as well as testing of welds and pipework for the oil and gas sector.   Serving a wide range of industries ranging from refining, oil, chemical and power generation to engineering, fabrication and steelmaking as well as insurance and third party inspection, specific inspection applications include ship inspection, marine pressure system testing, package boiler and structural steel inspection.

The IRISNDT Group works to develop both existing NDT and specialist services including training and development of personnel, adding state of the art equipment and new technologies such as 3D laser scanning, digital radiography, high temperature guided wave testing, and optical emission spectrometry for materials analysis.

Vikki Urwin MInstNDT, RT/DRT L3 at IRISNDT, hosted the visit saying, “We were very pleased to welcome the CMF member foundries and suppliers to our site – it’s always a pleasure to show off our state of the art facilities and to share information about the work that we do for our customers to quality assure their castings before they go off to be used in a range of safety critical industrial applications.  We take great pride in the quality of our work and the robustness of our systems so the opportunity to speak directly to our fellow CMF members is hugely valuable to tell them about the world class service that we offer.”

Pam Murrell, CMF CEO agreed saying, “Visits like this, which enable our Members to meet, to share ideas and to learn about the services that companies like IRISNDT can offer, is hugely valuable – and in fact is a big part of what being part of a trade association of like-minded companies is all about!  Thanks to Vikki and the team at IRISNDT for welcoming us so warmly – it’s clearly hugely skilled work that they do.”
