08 Feb The Metal Casting, Foundry & Patternmaking Apprentice Standard
Written by employers, for employers – and perfect for your apprentices.
This apprentice standard has been designed to train the future foundry & patternmaking engineers, technicians and operators, and is delivered by trainers with a passion for the industry and is available for you to use for your new apprentices and to upskill your employees.
Training is delivered on a flexible block-basis in the purpose-built National Foundry Training Centre which is supported by the industry’s professional body, the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers, ICME, and backed by the Cast Metals Federation, the University of Wolverhampton and Dudley College.
The Centre includes:
- a fully-equipped training foundry with modern melting furnaces;
- the latest moulding and casting equipment;
- a modern patternshop including a vertical machining centre;
- a design suite and 3D printing;
- laboratories for quality assurance and mechanical testing.
Over the last 2 years Foundry Training Services have been successfully training 36 new apprentices for the Industry, and a new cohort was enrolled in January 2021. The recruitment for apprentices doesn’t stop – there are already plans to recruit further apprentices later in the year so contact us to find out how to start with taking on apprentices for your business and we can put you in touch with key people to support your business.
Apprentice training is delivered through Dudley College, in partnership with Foundry Training Services Ltd, and there is plenty of support to help you plan, recruit and train your future technicians and foundry engineers.
