04 Sep CMF Reports Some Wage Inflation across the Casting Sector
The Cast Metals Federation has now completed its annual survey of wages and salaries for the UK Casting Industry. Those foundries who contribute with information receive the full survey results, anonymised and aggregated, and are able to use the data to inform any pay rises that are agreed, during recruitment and for benchmarking.
Where the data allows, the results are separated into small, medium and large foundries and also by process. A comparison with data from the previous 12-month period has been included, as well as salary information and retention rates.
Pam Murrell, CEO of the Cast Metals Federation notes, “I hope that this information will be useful for our members for benchmarking. In general, (but not universally) we have seen basic earnings, average hours worked, hourly rates and take home pay all increase and this reflects the upturn in the sector and may reflect improved production levels but also shortages in some specialist roles. Where pay rates have reduced we suspect this is due to foundries taking on younger employees as apprentices and technicians as older, experienced staff retire.”
