The Cast Metals Federation (CMF) has announced a new partnership with Metalshub, a digital platform for metals procurement, aimed at helping UK foundries strengthen their sourcing processes and respond to increasing market pressures.
The partnership will give CMF members access to Metalshub’s platform at a discounted rate, alongside a programme of joint activity including webinars, market insights and practical guidance to support the adoption of digital procurement approaches.
UK foundries are operating in a challenging environment, with rising input costs, supply volatility and increasing regulatory demands. Improving visibility, consistency and competitiveness in procurement is becoming an increasingly important part of maintaining performance and resilience.
By working with Metalshub, CMF is enabling members to explore digital tools that can support more structured and transparent sourcing, access a wider supplier base, and make better-informed purchasing decisions.
Member Benefit
CMF Chief Executive Lee Marshall said: “This partnership reflects our commitment to ensuring that UK foundries remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market.
“Digitalisation is an important enabler of efficiency, resilience and growth. By working with Metalshub, we are giving our members access to practical tools that can improve how they source materials and engage with suppliers.”
The partnership will also support wider industry engagement, with a focus on sharing best practice and lowering the barriers to adopting digital approaches across the sector.
Metalshub has an established presence in the UK market, with a number of foundry groups already using digital procurement tools as part of their operations. Through Metalshub, procurement teams can access a global network of raw material suppliers, conduct competitive tenders, and use tools such as reverse auctions, offer normalisation, and real-time analytics. These capabilities allow foundries to move towards strategic sourcing decisions supported by auditable data and market intelligence. Read more about Metalshub.
Through this collaboration, CMF aims to make these approaches more accessible to a broader range of members.
Dr Sebastian Kreft, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Metalshub, said: “Our partnership with the CMF will enable a structural shift in how the industry operates. Together, we are creating a pathway for foundries to adopt digital procurement in a practical and accessible way, helping them reduce costs, improve transparency, and build more resilient supply chains in an increasingly competitive environment.”
