Yorkshire Mineral Company Ltd, who operate a silica sand quarry and a resin coating facility in Burythorpe, North Yorkshire, are the latest supplier to join the Cast Metals Federation.

Simon Broad MIQ, General Manager for the company says, “We are an independent family-owned business and can trace our operational heritage back for over 60 years. With our own quarry we have an enviable wealth of experience in both quarrying and in resin coating the sand we supply to the industry. We are fortunate to have huge reserves of the highest quality silica sand which, in addition to use in foundries, has been used in the construction of equestrian arenas and racehorse gallops both in the UK and abroad.

“We are proud to be the largest producer of resin coated silica sand in the UK supplying both domestic and overseas markets from our on-site ‘Webac’ coating plants and we are delighted to be accepted in membership of the CMF to help support the UK industry.”

In welcoming the company into membership, CMF CEO Pam Murrell FICME, says, “The consistent and sustainable supply of raw materials is vital for our industry when we are all looking to be more resource efficient, and our local suppliers have a vital role to play here. We look forward to working with Simon and his colleagues from the company into the future.”
