05 Oct A Change at the Helm of MJ Allen

After serving the Company for more than 40 years, Tim Allen decided that the time was right to retire from his position as Group Managing Director from the end of September 2020. As a family owned business, the company will be left in good hands with Ben Allen taking on the Group Managing Director’s role on October 1st 2020 and Michael Allen appointed as Managing Director of MJ Allen Castings & Machining.

The company was established as a foundry in 1958 in Ashford, Kent in the South East of England but has grown so that now, through a suite of specialist companies, the group includes expertise in engineering patterns, aluminium castings, iron castings, bronze castings, fabrications and machining (MJ Allen Castings and Machining), architectural metalwork and structural steel (MJ Allen Metalwork), punch tooling and dies and sub contract machining (Rydal), Metrology (Verdict), sheet metal working machinery (Airworks, RMT, Gabro), after-market automotive clutch and brake (National Autoparts) and automotive transmission systems design (Countytrac).

In stepping down Tim said, “this decision was taken with my family and fellow Directors some time ago and we have been working to ensure the company continues to be successful with a smooth transition to the next generation of Management. I am confident that I am leaving the company in very safe hands. Indeed, the thing I am proudest of is that the company continues under “third generation” family ownership and management and the future, despite COVID, looks pretty great!”

Pam Murrell, CEO of the Cast Metals Federation, of which MJ Allen Casting & Machining is a Member, said, “We shall certainly miss Tim – his knowledge of the industry, and in particular the automotive sector supply chain, has been extremely valuable to us and our members, and he has been a regular and valued attendee at our industry sector and regional meetings. We wish Tim all the best for a long and well-deserved retirement.”
