01 Oct Castings as Complex Components discussed as the Global Industry meets in Slovenia.

The UK was represented at the recent World Foundry Organisation (WFO) Technical Forum and 59th IFC held recently in Portoroz, Slovenia.

In addition to attending the General Assembly, CMF’s Pam Murrell FICME presented one of the Plenary Session papers on the topic of ‘Professional Development for the Future Foundry Industry’, providing an update on the work of one of the WFO Working Groups.

More than 400 people attended the 3-day event which included a range of technical presentations as well as an exhibition, foundry visits and social / networking events.
ICME (the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers) is the UK Member of the WFO, which seeks to provide networking opportunities ‘to develop, enhance and improve the production of metal castings through the latest technical and sustainable industry practices’.

The next World Foundry Congress will be taking place in South Korea: 74th World Foundry Congress – “CAST THE FUTURE”, 18-22 October 2020, Bexco, Busan, Korea.
