Her Majesty The Queen has approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that Avon Speciality Metals Ltd should receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category this year – one of the highest business accolades possible for a UK company.
From its state-of-the-art processing facility, located in Gloucester, Avon Speciality Metals (ASM) specialises in the recycling of high-temperature nickel, cobalt and iron-based super-alloy revert, as well as a comprehensive range of off-exchange minor metals (including tantalum, niobium, molybdenum, tungsten, rhenium, hafnium and zirconium). ASM’s products have been certified as “conflict-free” by the Responsible Minerals Initiative.
Steven Munnoch, CEO for the company said, “Winning this prestigious award recognises the company’s impressive growth in turnover, exports and overseas earnings, alongside its ethical and sustainable approach to business dealings, its commitment to recycling, protecting the environment and the conservation of precious natural resources. This is the 4th Queen’s Award for the Avon Group, with Avon Metals Ltd having previously won in 2007, 2009 and 2012 in the International Trade and Sustainable Development categories.
Pam Murrell, CEO of the Cast Metals Federation said, “This is a great honour for the company – Avon are active members of our Federation and we are pleased that one of our supplier members has been recognised in this way. It also serves to raise the profile of the metals sector, within the wider high value manufacturing supply chain.”
