NPL is in the process of developing a national strategy for addressing measurement challenges arising from the electrification of vehicles and aircraft. The aim is to ensure that industry’s measurement needs are identified and addressed before they affect competitiveness and to pursue projects that accelerate development and adoption of advanced powertrain technologies.
In this process, we are seeking broad participation right across the UK supply chains to identify and prioritise the most critical challenges. Last September we held a workshop with about 50 stakeholders from a range of organisations. Based on the outcome of this combined with input from other discussions, meetings and documents, we have prepared an initial priority list that will form the core of our strategy.
We invite you to review the attached consultation document and to provide feedback via this survey by 18 February 2019. Please also feel free to forward this on to relevant colleagues, contacts and mailing lists; it is important to us that participation is as wide as possible.
The final outcome of this process will be a priorities report that will provide evidence to future funding decisions, including on the BEIS-funded National Measurement System. NPL published a similar report in 2017 on batteries, which has been used to attract additional funding and create strong UK networks.
