10 Nov Sarginsons Industries become Foundry Member of CMF

The latest foundry to join the Cast Metals Federation is Sarginsons Industries Ltd.  Based in Coventry in the West Midlands for over 80 years, the company produces aluminium components for a range of sectors including the automotive, electrical, medical, power transmission and petrochemical industries using low pressure and gravity die casting as well as chemically bonded sand casting.  With the latest design, prototyping and inspection capabilities the range of processes on offer means that the foundry is able to make finished and assembled components, from one off prototypes through to high volume series production runs.

The company is accredited to ISO TS 16949, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 14001 – indeed the environmental credentials were recently showcased at the launch of the Green Business Network at Coventry University’s Simulation Centre, as Sarginsons was the first company to utilise the Coventry and Warwickshire Green Business Programme. The programme is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund and delivered by Coventry City Council, Coventry University and Coventry University Enterprises Ltd.  Following a six-figure investment, including grant funding of £26,365, for two new gas furnaces, a new air compressor system and LED lighting installed across the facility, the investment will see Sarginsons reduce its CO2 emissions by   as much as 335 tonnes per annum as a result.

The company is a strategic partner for the Brunel University Advanced Metals Castings Centre and the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Liquid Metal Engineering (LiME) and supports the Warwick Manufacturing Group Academy for Young Engineers.

Speaking about the decision to join the CMF, MD Anthony Evans, said “We are already engaged with a number of leading UK academic institutions but recognise that by joining the Federation at this time, we shall have the opportunity to benefit from the sector specific information provided, as well taking advantage of the networking opportunities offered to share information and collaborate with other like-minded companies”.
