Part 1: The working organisation

This course provides a manager with the opportunity to discover and discuss ways to enhance their management and leadership approaches, whilst further considering ways to improve performance in their function or team.

A variety of tools and techniques are used to examine the different aspects of leadership and management, and the challenges faced when attempting to deliver effective work performance through individuals and teams taking account of team dynamics and team development

WHO IS IT FOR?

Those managing departments or teams who take responsibility for delivering business objectives through other people. Also useful for managers who want to learn more about leading and managing and getting the best from their people. This course respects prior management and leadership experience whilst enhancing effectiveness.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • To examine models and approaches that can further develop the skills and behaviours of effective managers and leaders.
  • Explore and develop your own leadership style and apply aspects of team dynamics & development.
  • Identify the key challenges facing you and your business and develop your thinking on how to manage these challenges.
  • Recognise the significance of change and to enable ways to deliver change
  • Set some personal goals – based on your learning from the module.

COURSE DURATION

Two days – normally delivered one day per month.  This course can be taken individually or as part of the full programme.

Part 2: The Performing Organisation

This course allows managers the opportunity to discover ways to markedly enhance the overall performance of their department, function or team and that of the organisation.

Managers will examine the different elements to setting and delivering consistently high performance through different performance management systems and robust methods to uncover current performance strengths and shortcomings. Reflection on learning from the module will then be used to set out future performance targets that are actionable and measurable.

  • To develop a deeper understanding and comprehensive insight to performance management through traditional and contemporary measurement methods, and deep the measures can reach in your business.
  • To consider performance management systems and the service profit chain analogy.
  • The benefits that the Balanced Scorecard and associated models could bring to your performance.
  • To recognise the areas of business focus requiring development and delivery of enhanced performance.
  • Understand the purpose and basis of reflective leadership practices through setting some personal and team performance goals for the next 100 days.

Part 3: The Thriving Organisation

You will learn advanced processes for getting the best out of your people and how to apply them in your organisation. You will have the opportunity to practise a range of specific skills essential to leadership in today’s turbulent business environment, through questionnaires, case studies, workshops, group discussions set in an open, hands-on, how to-apply-it-today atmosphere.
