Copper Alloys has joined The Cast Metals Federation as its latest member. Tracing its history back over a century, Copper Alloys has developed a first-class reputation as a global leader in material development and applied engineering. From the very first castings made from nickel-aluminium-bronze to support the war effort in the 1940s, through to the development of wrought nickel-aluminium-bronze in the 1980s, and the higher specification replacement, wrought copper-nickel-chromium developed in the 2010s, Copper Alloys has consistently spearheaded the drive for innovation and the creation of high-integrity metals. Some of these alloys have become the specified standard for marine and naval defence applications, while others are set to become the next standard as metallurgical development continues.
Simon Forrester, Chief Executive of the Cast Metals Federation, emphasised the significance of this new membership: “Copper Alloys are a great addition to the CMF supply chain. They provide a very specific offering that our members and their clients demand. We look forward to collaborating with Copper Alloys and leveraging their expertise to benefit our members and the wider industry. I am particularly keen to better understand their pioneering failure analysis processes and help identify new applications for their custom metals”.
The addition of Copper Alloys to the Cast Metals Federation (CMF) community will have several positive impacts:
1. Enhanced Expertise: Copper Alloys brings over a century of experience in material development and applied engineering. Their expertise in developing high-performance copper-based materials will be invaluable to the CMF community.
2. Innovation and Quality: Copper Alloys’ commitment to innovation and quality aligns with CMF’s mission to advance the cast metals industry. Their pioneering work in creating reliable and high-integrity metals will benefit other members by setting new standards for excellence.
3. Expanded Product Offerings: With Copper Alloys’ diverse range of products, including bespoke material creation and advanced alloys for marine and naval defence applications, CMF members will have access to a broader array of high-quality materials.
4. Collaborative Opportunities: The membership will foster collaboration between Copper Alloys and other CMF members, leading to shared knowledge, resources, and best practices. This collaboration can drive industry-wide improvements and innovations.
5. Support for Complex Projects: Copper Alloys’ expertise in managing complex processes and providing in-depth failure analysis will support CMF members in tackling challenging projects, ensuring high standards of quality and reliability.
Ben Turner, Managing Director of Copper Alloys, added: “Joining the Cast Metals Federation is a significant milestone for us. We are excited about the opportunities CMF membership brings and are eager to further contribute to the growth and development of custom metals for the UK cast metals industry.”
