23 Sep Personal Safety Solutions Provider 3M joins the Cast Metals Federation
The Cast Metals Federation is delighted to welcome 3M Personal Safety Division into membership of the Federation.
With over 50 years of experience in developing effective and individual PPE (personal protective equipment) solutions for the metals industries, 3M focus on helping people to be safe and more productive, whilst protecting their long-term health and also safeguarding the environment.
“Our members take the health and wellbeing of their employees very seriously,” says CMF CEO Dr Pam Murrell, “and the industry has made huge investments in engineered solutions to keep people safe, but there is a still a clear need for PPE to protect our people from the various hazards in foundries, whether that is hot metal or fumes and dusts. We are therefore delighted to welcome 3M into membership.
“Our active health and safety initiative for the industry, SHIFT, is continually looking to share best practice and new developments particularly at a time when there is an active focus on minimising exposure to dusts and fumes, as well as noise, in foundries and we need proactive suppliers like 3M to work with us to help support members. We all need to work to ensure that the industry is able to attract and retain the new talent that is needed and having effective and comfortable PPE, within safe working environments is part of this.”
Gavin Jarvis, Sales Segment Lead, Heavy Manufacturing & Transport, 3M Personal Safety Division agrees, saying “We are keen to work with the Federation and its members to keep improving our offering and responding to the industry’s needs – being able to work directly with the users of our products and get their insights is invaluable. Being part of a trusted organisation, like the CMF, helps us to achieve this whilst also demonstrating our longer-term commitment to the metals sector in the UK.”
