JBM International Ltd, a leading secondary aluminium ingot manufacturer, has become the latest supplier to the foundry industry to join the Cast Metals Federation.
Established in 1978 and based in Staffordshire, the family-owned business JBMI has grown to become one of the UK’s largest producers in this sector, capable of producing around 24,000 tonnes of aluminium alloy ingots annually. The company is recognised for its bespoke alloy production, tailored to meet global specific customer requirements, and is registered with the London Metal Exchange (LME) alongside its involvement with key industry bodies, including the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), as well as the CMF.
Pam Murrell FICME, CMF CEO welcomes the company into membership saying, “There is now a much greater focus on metals as strategic raw materials for the UK and a recognition of the importance of foundries as a key part of the circular economy for metals. Indeed, we are already seeing an increased focus on secondary metals as the UK tries to reduce its dependence on primary metals, and towards lower carbon products – but this brings its own challenges in terms of quality and consistency. There is a clear opportunity to make more of the components needed for the UK economy here in the UK and we need to work collaboratively to ensure that our foundries are able to access the raw materials they need to create new products, whilst making best use of these critical raw materials.”
Josh Brough, Business Development Director for JBMI International agrees, saying “We are delighted to be joining the CMF at this time. Sustainability and environmental considerations are at the forefront of our operations, and we are already focused on closed-loop recycling and producing low-carbon content aluminium, aiming to reduce environmental impact and support customers’ sustainability goals. By prioritising recycled aluminium, we are already contributing to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions here in the UK and we are looking forward to being actively engaged in the CMF’s activities.
