13 May Sand and Gravity Die Company Haworth Castings Ltd joins Cast Metals Federation

The Cast Metals Federation is delighted to welcome Haworth Castings Ltd into membership.  The company is a supplier of aluminium and copper-based sand and gravity die castings to customers from a wide range of sectors, including the defence, aviation, marine, medical, energy, automotive and safety-critical industries.  Part of the Expromet Technologies Group, which incorporates Investacast (an investment casting foundry) and CNC machining company, Metaltech Precision, the company can offer fully machined or raw castings, as well as post casting services such as heat treatment, HIPping, impregnation, testing and inspection.

“We are delighted to welcome Haworth Castings into the Federation – the industry is facing many challenges at the moment due to the cost of energy and raw materials but is also a very important part of the future of UK manufacturing and the drive to net zero so there are clear opportunities for castings as a route to manufacture”, says CMF CEO Pam Murrell. “We are seeing increased reshoring of parts due to reliability of supply issues, as well as more cast parts being commissioned due to the design flexibility, light-weighting and near net shape manufacturing, enhanced by using additive manufacturing techniques to shorten lead times.   The industry is also a fundamental part of the circular economy for metals – so it’s important that we work together as a sector”.

Lachlan Buirds, MD of the company added “We are pleased to be joining the CMF and engaging with other members in the sector through the meetings and information that is provided by the CMF Team.  We are committed to providing an excellent customer service by working in partnership with our clients and intend to take full advantage of the services offered by the CMF to help us grow and optimise our business.”
