The Cast Metals Federation is delighted to report that Lestercast Ltd has become the newest Foundry Member of the Federation.
Leicester-based Lestercast produces precision investment castings in a range of metals and specialist alloys, for automotive, industrial and commercial applications, supplying to diverse and global markets through various manufacturing methods including rapid prototyping and 3D printing. The range of materials and processes available means the company can offer flexibility and versatility in component design and production to ensure that specifications are achieved and products meeting the highest possible quality standards. The company is accredited to IATF/TS 16949 and the quality management specification ISO 9001:2015 as well as they recently attained Fit 4 Nuclear (F4N) status which enables Lestercast to work directly within the nuclear supply chain.
The company is particularly keen to take advantage of the enormous potential for networking that CMF membership offers. “Whilst we are fully aware of the vast number of facilities CMF has in terms of member services and training, we are particularly attracted to the ability to interact with like-minded people in our industry,” says Martyn Whelpton, Technical Manager of Lestercast. “It is important for us to meet and share ideas and we have already benefited from a meeting we attended where we have been able to have exchange visits with another foundry so our CMF involvement has already opened up opportunities for us and we are looking forward to getting more involved.”
CMF chief executive, Dr Pam Murrell FICME, said: “The UK investment casting sector is a very important part of our industry and produces a significant portion of the global output for a wide range of sectors – with growth globally reportedly being around 8 per cent last year, and upturns in most sectors supplied by the industry.
