W Hallam Castings is a specialist manufacturer of aluminium pressure die castings with 50 years experience and is also a high quality product development and prototype manufacturing company specialising in the design, prototyping and manufacture of OEM branded products using cast aluminium components in a wide range of market sectors. Hallam offers:-
- Production of cast aluminium components using specialist alloys for a wide range of environments including roadside and marine applications, CNC machined, surface treated/powder coated using state-of-the-art in-house powder coating facilities and assembled if required, for existing or new products.
- Design, prototyping and manufacture of cast aluminium components, sub-assemblies or complete new products made up of a range of materials sourced by Hallam for customers. Fully assembled products range from computer monitor arms and exterior lighting to veterinary products for use with livestock.
Under NDAs, Hallam’s product design team have developed close working relationships with customers’ own designers and the team is consulted at an early stage during the product design or re-design process. Hallam can provide advice not only on technical constraints but also on design-for-manufacture and product assembly issues.
Hallam has more than 40 mainly UK-based OEM customers in market sectors ranging from agriculture & veterinary to domestic, industrial and public sector lighting systems. Above all Hallam helps its customers to compete in global markets. Many are multi-national organisations, but Hallam’s prices are often lower than Far Eastern or Eastern European prices and always offer better value-for-money.
Hallam has extremely strong component and tool design and prototyping capability, works closely with the Advance Manufacturing Research Centre, University of Sheffield and has links with other Universities Nationally.
Castings can be CNC machined using DMG Mori machining centres and powder coated using modern fully automatic in-house facilities.
Hallam has CMM equipment to facilitate 6 sigma inspection regimes and reverse engineering projects. Test rigs can be constructed to apply mechanical load and similar tests to components and products.
Hallam initially attained ISO 9001:2008 (awarded by BSI) but successfully transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 (also BSI) in 2017. Aerospace and rail products are supplied under special concession at present.
