21 May NIWE Project Stakeholder Meeting

The NIWE project stakeholder meeting will be held on the 29th of May in Brussels (Belgium).

Shortly, the main objective of NIWE (www.niweproject.eu) is to develop and demonstrate new processes and equipment for the metallurgical energy intensive industries to reduce the energy consumption in the casting processes and to reduce the GHG emissions with the aim of achieving lower carbon footprint products. The expected energy efficiency gains are due to an innovative application of Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems used in Electric Vehicles, by means of this WPT based on induction, will allow a highly flexible production. This increase on the production flexibility attends to the current variability of the foundry products demand. Together with the WPT system, new and innovative solutions for heating and refractory technologies in foundry furnaces, provides a global improvement in the energy efficiency of foundry plant. A video of the WPT technology may be found here
