19 Mar Investment Casting Training Seminar a Success
30 delegates attended the latest Investment Casting short course organised by the Cast Metals Federation. Over two days the attendees, who ranged from new recruits and apprentices to more experienced technicians seeking to improve and refresh their knowledge of the investment casting process, were able to hear from leading industry experts and international suppliers.
The presentations covered the full process from wax selection and control, through shell quality and testing, via metal feedstock and metal vacuum melting, through to wax removal, as well as the use of additive technologies and a discussion around future developments and opportunities for the sector.
The feedback from the event was very positive and as Pam Murrell, CEO of the CMF, said, “It is clear that there is a need for this kind of forum where our Members are able to meet and learn from industry experts and we are grateful to the suppliers and our members for their support with this. There are few opportunities for this kind of information exchange now so our next aim should be to provide a more practical programme – the new National Foundry Training Centre should help us to facilitate this in the coming months.”
