23 May Castings Technology International – new CMF Member

Castings Technology International (Cti) has now become a member of the Cast Metals Federation (CMF) under a reciprocal arrangement whereby the CMF is also now a Member of CTi.

Cti, based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park near Rotherham, provides advanced casting expertise and manufacturing capabilities, including computer process modelling, design for casting manufacture, rapid low-volume manufacture of precision castings and casting process and materials research, for aerospace and other high-value manufacturing sectors.

Dedicated to working with manufacturing businesses operating in the global supply chain, ranging from multi-national aerospace giants to local SMEs, Cti is part of the University of Sheffield AMRC group, which includes the AMRC with Boeing, the Nuclear AMRC, the new AMRC Training Centre, Namtec (the National Metals Technology Centre) and the AMRC Knowledge Transfer Centre.

Speaking about the new agreement, Dr Pam Murrell CEO for the Cast Metals Federation said, “We are pleased to have a closer relationship with Cti so that our members are able to help determine the future technology innovation programme and take advantage of the newer technologies that Cti can offer”.

Will Jeffs, Technical Development Manager for CTi concurred, saying, “CMF’s close links with industry will be invaluable to us and will enable us to promote our resources and expertise in the some of the newer technologies to a wider audience.  We have experience of a range of materials including titanium, nickel based superalloys, specialist steels and cast irons, copper and aluminium alloys and hope that industry can take advantage of the resources that we have.”
