We are delighted to share the news with you that today, on her 90th Birthday, Her Majesty has announced that MRT is a winner of the 2016 Queen’s Award for International Trade.
The Queen’s Awards have this year been presented to 243 UK businesses for outstanding achievement in the fields of International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. The award recognises MRT’s exceptional export sales growth of over 330% over the three year period from 2012 to 2015. Export sales now represent over 50% of MRT’s business, with customers spread throughout the UK, Europe and North America.
The Hampshire company casts and machines complex engineering components for OEMs all over the world, particularly within the medical, aerospace and defence sectors.
Many of the components manufactured by MRT are life-critical or safety-critical, requiring the highest levels of engineering expertise. The company has grown its team and also invested heavily in new technology to help drive production, with a complement of four advanced pressure casting machines and 21 cutting-edge CNC machining centres.
Phil Rawnson Managing Director of MRT Castings stated – ” The award is a tremendous honour for us all, and recognises the dedication, skill and shear effort which every member of the MRT team has contributed to the business during this exciting period of international growth. “
The Queen’s Award is the latest and most prestigious in a string of recent accolades for MRT.
Last November the company won the Cast Metals Federation Company Achievement Award for its outstanding growth, investment and diversification into new markets.
That came just two weeks after MRT won the EEF South East Outstanding Export Award.
MRT was established in 1947 and has been based in Andover since 1965. It offers customers a complete end-to-end manufacturing service. Its solutions include design, tooling, casting, machining and finishing.
